Control Your Mind’s Narrative, Reclaim Your Life.

Navigating the challenges of depression and anxiety can feel overwhelming, leaving many people facing these struggles to feel isolated.  Anxiety often creates a sense of lack of safety, causing a relentless cycle of worry and fear that affects both the mind and body. Depression can feel like a crushing weight, making even the simplest tasks seem impossible.  The two can also feed off of each other.  When anxiety is persistent, the constant state of worry can lead to feelings of hopelessness and despair. Over time, this can contribute to depressive symptoms, as individuals may feel trapped in their anxious thoughts.  Conversely, when someone is experiencing depression, they might withdraw from activities or social interactions that once brought joy. This withdrawal can cause and increase anxiety about one's ability to ever effectively engage with life or meet the expectations of one’s self and others.

In addressing anxiety, I focus on helping you install a more beneficial internal security system.  In other words, I work with you to feel safer in your mind and body.  I teach a variety of techniques to foster a healthier relationship with your thoughts and encourage you to live more fully in the present.  I use both cognitive (focusing on the mind) and somatic (focusing on the body) strategies to help you manage anxiety in an effort to bring the mind and body into greater alignment.  The more the two are effectively communicating messages of calm and safety with each other, the more inner peace you can experience.

When depressed, it is completely valid and normal to feel helpless and hopeless. My goal is to help you recognize that you can reclaim moments of joy and functionality, and decrease both the frequency and depth of depressive symptoms. Together, we will fine-tune the pathways in your brain by shifting your perspectives and empowering you to gradually move toward a more fulfilling life.  I will support you in taking small, manageable steps to help you experience small wins (small in size, big in impact) that allow you to feel capable.  I will greatly promote self-compassion so that you are establishing a kinder relationship with yourself.

If you are struggling with both, I will support you in understanding the relationship the two have with each other and work on beneficial ways to target the experiences they both evoke, including examples of trouble concentrating, stress, irregular sleep, and trouble following routine.

You are not alone in this journey. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
